Up or down?

Quite normal people on a quite normal evening in a quite normal elevator at a quite normal high-rise building in a quite normal big city. People who are moved together in a given direction. They have to wait. They are investment bankers. Some were able to make good profits with their investments today. Others have lost a lot. For some, the moment to exit had not yet come. Just like at this moment: No one can get out on the way, no one can get in on the way.

Where to go?

The silhouette of the city gets lost in the movement, just as reality sometimes blurs in the rush of the ups and downs of the stock market. Whether it's down or up, the outcome of winning a lot of money or losing a lot is always just a thought away. And until the right number flashes, it's a matter of waiting.

The city seems to move

As if behind a delicate color curtain of reflections of the surrounding skyscrapers, waiting and movement merge harmoniously in time.

When is the right moment?

Sometimes you can't get out (yet). The time is not yet ready, it is not yet ripe. And so we have to wait and exercise patience. Even if everything around us is in motion and we certainly don't stand completely still, the much invoked right moment has not yet arrived. But what is this moment? A blink in time and it is already missed. Are the values we are waiting for the right ones? This photograph, in all its harmony, raises many questions, even if you don't want to take your eyes off it. Or precisely because of it.

About André Wagner

André Wagner is a German photographer whose work explores perception, atmosphere, and the quiet spaces between reality and imagination. Working primarily with infrared photography, he transforms familiar landscapes and architectural scenes into calm, otherworldly images that invite reflection rather than explanation.

His artistic approach is rooted in observation and patience. Instead of documenting places as they appear, Wagner is interested in how they feel—how light, time, and distance shape our experience of the world. Infrared light becomes a tool not for spectacle, but for subtle transformation, revealing tones and structures that remain invisible to the naked eye.

Wagner’s work has been exhibited internationally and is part of private and institutional collections. Alongside his gallery and museum practice, he is committed to making art accessible beyond traditional art spaces.

At Flugpost.art, his infrared works are available as carefully produced posters—offering collectors a direct and personal connection to the artist’s vision, without intermediaries.
